“Experience Will Give Guidance To Our Exciting New Bafana Youngsters” – Reader’s Voice

“Experience Will Give Guidance To Our Exciting New Bafana Youngsters” – Reader’s Voice

There's been a lot of positive talk surrounding the dawn of a new era in the Bafana team, with fans, pundits and critics voicing their pleasure in seeing a youthful, and exciting national team.

The win against Guinea-Bissau on Saturday escalated optimism to new heights as the new boys displayed a performance worthy of all the praise. The team had cohesion, with players interchanging neatly and showing slick movement all over the park.

However, before getting carried away with one good display, this requires a bit of analysis. This was a friendly match against a slightly inferior Guinea-Bissau side ranked 18 places below Bafana and they set out to defend, which resulted in them not really testing Bafana's inexperienced defence.

One can't ignore the glaring case of inexperience in that Bafana team, with Itumeleng Khune the only player that has over 50 caps. Others might argue that selecting them is the only way they can get experience.

However, they cannot all go in at the same time as this will hurt them in heavy defeats against bigger opposition. Yes, the coach needs to select deserving players, of which there is a few that are experienced like Siphiwe Tshabalala, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, and Anele Ngcongca, just to name a few.

These players might not come in to start, but, they will give guidance to our exciting new youngsters.

Do you think Bafana need more experienced stars?
