Mamelodi Sundowns will head to Cape Town this Wednesday for an Absa Premiership clash and Soccer Laduma takes a look at the Brazilians' record in the Mother City in the past three seasons.
Sundowns will lock horns with Stellenbosch FC at the Athlone Stadium on March 11 for their catch-up league encounter, with the Chloorkop-based club able to get within four points of log-leaders Kaizer Chiefs, should they come away with maximum points.
Stellenbosch will host Sundowns for the first time in the league since the Western Cape outfit's introduction to the top flight this season.
But how often do Sundowns manage to secure all three points when heading to the Mother City?
Here are some of their results from the past three seasons against Cape Town City and Ajax Cape Town (before relegation):
In the 2018/19 campaign, Sundowns suffered a 2-1 loss to City on March 05, 2019 at the Athlone Stadium.
The Brazilians also made the trip to Cape Town for the first leg of the MTN8 semi-finals that same season, where they suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Citizens at the Cape Town Stadium.
In the 2017/18 season, Sundowns made trips to Cape Town for both City and Ajax.
In the Absa Premiership on January 09, 2018, Sundowns secured a 2-1 win away to Ajax at the Cape Town Stadium, and a 1-0 win against City at the Athlone Stadium in February that year.
The Brazilians also secured a 2-1 away win over City in the 2018 Nedbank Cup quarter-finals.
However, in the season before that (2016/17), Sundowns suffered a 2-0 away loss to Ajax and a 1-0 away loss to the Citizens that same season.
Now, after their clash against Stellenbosch tomorrow evening, the Brazilians are also scheduled to face City in Cape Town on April 08 and it remains to be seen whether they will pick up maximum points in both encounters.
