Wits’ Injury List Grows Ahead Of CAF Clash

Bidvest Wits Have Fresh Injury Concerns After Last Night

By Joe Crann - Apr 12, 2017 04:56 PM @YesWeCrann

Mamelodi Sundowns aren’t the only club with growing injury concerns, as Bidvest Wits, another title-chasing side, also faces a full medical room.

Pitso Mosimane’s side has been unlucky in recent weeks as they lost the likes of Tiyani Mabunda, Denis Onyango, Sibusiso Vilakazi and others to injury as they try to keep up their title defence and have struggled on the field with just two wins in their last nine games in all competitions.

Wits, however, went top of the league on Tuesday evening with a convincing 3-0 victory over Golden Arrows and are currently in the driving seat as they go into the business end of the Absa Premiership season.

The win came at a cost though, as Thabang Monare had to be replaced in the 22nd minute with a suspected hamstring injury. He will undergo a scan today to assess the extent of his problem.

Monare joins Nazeer Allie, Daine Klate, Granwald Scott, Wangu Gome and James Keene on their injury list, with Xola Mlambo only now a possible returnee after almost a month out.

Wits travel to Egypt this weekend to face Smouha in the CAF Confederation Cup on the back of their 0-0 draw at home in the first leg.

we sometimes like making something big from nothing, this is football not golf players are bound to be injured and these are the teams with big budget and a lot of quality players. teams that supposed to complain about injuries are teams with small budget like your Free State Stars and your and Highlands Park.

Players are bound to get injured easily when they do not get enough rest in between games. Being involved in many competitons all at once is not good at all for players. The leauge alone is at a stage where teams play game every after 3 days and it is worse for teams like Sundowns, Wits and Supersport United because they are involved in CAF and they travel a lot, it is taking a tall on players.

Our form at the moment has nothing to do with our goalkeepers. They are not being forced to make big saves‚ they are on holiday. "Even when we played (Kaizer) Chiefs there was no direct threat. We play on one side of the pitch‚ our goalkeepers are on the other. Mosimane concluded
