Kaizer’s Message For Amajita’s World Cup Hopefuls
Kaizer Motaung Has Wished South Africa's U20s Well
Kaizer Motaung has sent his wishes to the South African U20 side who travelled to South Korea, saying that he hopes they make it to the final.
Amajita will have to get past Japan, Italy and Uruguay if they’re going to make it out of the group stages, a task that will not be easy after being drawn in arguably the toughest group of the tournament.
It is the first time that South Africa’s U20s have reached the World Cup since 2009 and they will be eager to try and make a name for themselves and impress the numerous scouts that will be there.
Motaung’s club, Kaizer Chiefs, have just one player, Wiseman Meyiwa, heading to the competition with Thabo Senong and while he had hoped for more he says that it’s ultimately up to the coach.
He told Chiefs’ official website, “I wish them all the best and hope that they will make it to the final… I expected that we would have two or three players, it’s always the coach who has the final say on team selection.”
Meanwhile, on the topic of what can be achieved in South Korea, he said, “It’s a great achievement (qualifying). It could be the beginning of positive things for the future of our football. I wish they can get all the way to the final. That won’t be easy, but everything is possible in football. It’s not the name of a country that decides the outcome, but the ability of the players on the day of the game.”
