ABC Motsepe League Gauteng champions, Maccabi FC, are coming under scrutiny after it was alleged that they bribed players to manipulate a result against Vaal Professionals in a game that they went on to win 3-1.
Orange Vaal Professionals, who finished second in the league behind Maccabi, since submitted a complaint to SAFA, although it is taking some time for the hearing to take place due to postponements.
The case was due to be heard yesterday at SAFA House, however, Vaal Professionals have now requested a postponement and it will now only go ahead in one months’ time on May 20th.
There was further drama, as a group of people gathered outside SAFA House to protest against the corruption taking place in South Africa’s lower leagues. There have been suggestions that they may have been sent by one of the clubs involved.
