Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has made a significant mark on the club, securing three trophies since his arrival at the beginning of last season. The Spanish tactician's success includes two MTN8 titles and a Nedbank Cup victory, with the team currently competing in the semifinals of the latter. Former Pirates striker Jackie Ledwaba, in an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, commended Riveiro for his exceptional coaching prowess, particularly noting the challenges foreign coaches often face in South Africa.

"Personally I think coach Jose (Riveiro) has done a good job with the team. He arrived at the team when it had taken some few seasons without a trophy but look, in just two seasons he has already won three trophies. That's great. He has done very well for the team and he has proven his worth. Most foreign coaches take time to get used to the local game as well as players but he has done that in just two years. Look, he defended the MTN8 and now he is in the semifinals of the Nedbank Cup after winning it last season as well. That's what a good coach looks like," Ledwaba told the Siya crew.
Ledwaba also highlighted Riveiro's inclusive approach to team selection, giving nearly all players, including promising youngsters like Relebohile Mofokeng, opportunities to contribute on the field.
"You see the way he gives almost all the players the chance to play? He is building a strong team. That also builds a strong team spirit amongst the players and you can see how they fight for each other in games. Every player knows they will have the chance to play including the youngsters. That's what the team needed and it's very good going forward. I just wish he could stay much longer and fight for the league like from next season. He can win it. He has the potential to win the league title," Ledwaba concluded.
