Algeria fans celebrate Madiba
Themba Zwane and Yassine Benzia's each bagged a brace as Bafana Bafana and Algeria played out an entertaining 3-3 draw in a FIFA Series clash at the Nelson Mandela Stadium on Tuesday evening.
It was Bafana Bafana's first time playing at Algeria's Nelson Mandela Stadium and the fans at the ground celebrated the occasion with a flag of one of the world’s most well renowned political figures.
The Madiba flag saw a portrait of Mandela merged with the map of Africa and it was displayed alongside the Algerian flag by the fans.

The Algerian Football Federation named a stadium after Tata Madiba due to the political trailblazer's good relationship with Algeria.
As mentioned on the FIFA website, Mandela trained alongside the armed forces of the Algerian National Liberation Front during his times on the other side of the government.
"This unlikely affinity, then, unique because of the sheer distance between the two countries, was to have a bearing on the Baraki Stadium once it officially opened its doors, as was decided just a fortnight before the soft opening," wrote an article on FIFA's site.
The stadium was launched in 2023, 13 years after it first broke ground in January 2010. Take a look at some snaps of the arena:
